Security Surveillance Video

Security surveillance video cameras include Closed Circuit Television Systems (CCTVS). Traditionally, CCTVS were used by companies, government agencies, defense contractors, the Bureau of Prisons (BOP) and museums. They are still used but lately, they have begun to become popular additions for those who want to secure their homes and possessions.

Newer CCTVS can come in an almost endless variety of shapes and sizes. Weatherproof, waterproof, large, miniscule, cameras for external use,spy cameras for covert use inside the home, even mechanical battery-powered flies with transmitters that can attach to a blind in a room and survey the room for a couple of hours (with audio pickup capability).

Of course with the increasing knowledge of their uses, companies use various counter-measures to detect such mechanical transmissions. CCTVS can produce high quality pictures in either black and white or high definition color, and are also available with infra-red night vision capabilities.

With each new technology advance,the cost of surveillance cameras like CCTVS has decreased and now even computer video-cams costing just a few dollars are used effectively in home security installations.

Some things you need to consider while planning your security installations include:

1. How much do you have to spend on a security system?

You need to know because video security installations can quickly add up and exceed the funds you've allotted to the system.

2. Based on your available funds, what type of system can be installed? Wireless video security in full color motion? A wired system? or just a simple spy-cam system hooked up to your computer?

Do your research on each kind of system and how it can help meet your needs before you make a final decision.

3. What equipment do you need for your purposes?

Talk to video security installation vendors. More than just a single opinion is important. Go slow at this juncture in your planning.

4. Where will you put your equipment?

Planning is the key and this is where the the advice of a security consultant with 2-5 years of experience in video security installations is invaluable.
