The images are stored in mini DVD disks that are smaller in size than traditional DVDs. Their capacity is usually sufficient for up to 2 hours of video filming. They also have Read Write capability which means the disk can be reused after taking a back up of the images in a normal Read Only DVD disks or hard disk of a PC. After recording, they can usually be played directly in a DVD player with no need for transfer of the files to normal DVDs.
Some models also have a printer interface which allows taking a hardcopy of the pictures instantly. The rechargeable battery can be charged using the adapter provided by the manufacturer. The status of battery charge is also indicated on the LCD screen. The mini DVD camcorder can also be used for taking still pictures just like a digital camera. These images are usually stored directly in memory chips. They are also provided with special software for transferring the video as well as still pictures to the hard disk of a PC and / or recording on normal DVDs. Mixing of videos and adding background music while replaying is also possible with the software. The usage of the software requires some amount of practice for the uninitiated.
